He Ensures Patients Receive Timely Care

He's not visible to patients, but Thomas Keill's skill and dedication help ensure people receive medical care in a timely manner.

A clinical engineer, Keill maintains medical equipment, coming in at 5 a.m. and working on days off if necessary. He's even worked despite a hairline fracture in his ankle. So it’s no surprise Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg Cancer Center colleagues regard him as dedicated, loyal and trustworthy, enabling them to deliver better patient care.

When the Cancer Center’s linear accelerator (which delivers cancer treatments) needed repair, Keill pinpointed the problem and ordered the parts from an Atlanta company. He wasn’t on-call, but Keill arrived at 5 a.m. and repaired the machine so no patients had to reschedule treatment.

“Tom always arrives before his scheduled time and stays overtime,” says radiation therapist Christine Wirth. “His dedication to his position, respect for our patients and concern for our staff are the norm.”
